Cant find
Activation Code / Password - Where might I find it?
-
The Code, formerly known as the Password, was
originally furnished to you via e-mail (or on a
real white piece of paper if you purchased the program by
mail). The
instructions suggested that you make a file
folder in which to store that Code. Possibly you made such a file
and can find the Code in the file cabinet.
-
If
you have an existing occurrence of the program
that can be opened on some other computer in
your office, you can find the Code
by clicking on the top line menu item called
Registered
Owner. Then click Change Name of
Registered Owner. You might also find the
Code by clicking either of the top line menu items:
Activation Code or About.
-
Your
Activation Code must "match" the
program for which it is being used. Each
product has a different code. And each
substantial update of a single product has a
different code. The name of the product
and its version number are always written on
the factory original CD and in the documents
furnished at the time of original purchase.
If the
three items listed above did not help you locate
your password/ activation code, then read on:
You can use our web service to obtain
replacement activation codes. (At the same time you can
can also change the licensed name associated with
your Legal Math or Child Support program and obtain corresponding
new activation codes for those programs.) There is a $5 fee
associated with this service.
Exceptions:
-
Do not use this process if you are using Windows
Vista and you are looking for your code for any version of
Legal Math older than Version 2007. Earlier versions
of Legal Math will not work in Windows Vista, and paying
to obtain a copy of the number for your older version will not
be a good use of your time or money. An update to Legal Math
Version 2007 is available for a reasonably small price from this web site.
-
Do not use this process if
you only wanting to change the licensed name associated
with your Financial Affidavit program.
-
If you are already licensed
for the most recent version of Colorado Child Support or
Financial Affidavit, and if you download and
install the most recent build of Colorado Child Support or
Financial Affidavit (no charge), then you do not need to
get a new Activation Code for a changed name if the
changed name contains a reasonable portion of the
original name. See Name Change Rules below.
(This self help program feature does not yet apply to the
Oklahoma Child Support program or to the Legal Math
program, but it will soon be available.)
Name Change Rules:
In most cases (Colorado Child
Support and Financial Affidavit) you will not
need to get a new Activation Code if you are changing the
licensed name. In order for these "Rules" to work
properly, however, you should first download and install the most
recent "build" of whichever program you are wanting to
change. (Download most recent build of
Colorado Child Support Version 2008
here.)
(Download most recent build of Financial Affidavit
Version 2006
here.)
Read on ...
If the name of your office
changes, and you want to change the licensed name as it
appears in a program, you can do so using the same
Activation Code you already have - provided the new name
is "similar" to the original name. A new name is
considered to be "similar" if the new name contains a
portion of the old name. (This feature
does not yet apply to the program known as Legal Math,
but it will soon be available.)
Examples of changes that can be made using the same
Activation Code:
Douglas & Frankfurter >> Douglas, Frankfurter & Warren.
Douglas & Frankfurter >> Law Office of Felix Frankfurter
Douglas & Black >> Black & Warren.
But Douglas & Black can't be changed to Scalia & Thomas
(but who would ever do that?)
In the second example, if Douglas has left the firm,
Douglas must purchase a new program, as one license
cannot become two.
Click the appropriate button on the program's first
screen (the screen with the photograph) to be taken to
another screen within the program where you can provide
the new name.
After changing the original name, you will need to exit
and then re-start the program in order for the changed
name to take effect.
If, after reading the stuff above, you still think you need to
do so,
click
here to start the process of
obtaining a replacement or new activation
code. (Legal Math program and Oklahoma Child Support
program customers will need to use this process if they want to
get a new code for a new name.)
